The International Association for the Promotion of Chess was created as a natural outcome of various initiatives led by a group of education professionals united by their shared passion for chess in Catalonia.
The establishment of the Association made it possible to expand and strengthen the work that had already been carried out through Balagium Editors, giving it a new direction founded on altruistic and solidarity-based principles.
Its main goal is to harness the many valuable opportunities offered by this strategic mind sport to promote chess as a first-rate educational resource, applicable in educational, therapeutic, and recreational contexts.
Chess, often associated with intelligence and critical thinking, also serves as an effective tool to promote gender equality, multiculturalism, and social inclusion—fundamental values in 21st-century education.
Mission
To promote the global expansion of chess through the implementation of educational chess in schools, fostering students’ holistic development and competence-based learning through strategic thinking, reflection, and core values.
The Educachess project aims to become a global benchmark in educational chess, integrating initiatives across educational, sports, therapeutic, and solidarity-based fields.
It also supports the creation of an open, multilingual platform (WikiChess 3.0) that ensures universal and free access to all educational resources, PDF materials, interactive multimedia applications, and the Educachess School Contest platform, thereby fostering collaboration and the worldwide dissemination of knowledge.
Vision
To ensure the sustainability and international projection of Educachess through a solid and stable infrastructure that will enable the long-term consolidation of the project.
Strategic priorities include the creation of a UNESCO Chair in Chess and the integration of the project within a prestigious foundation, ensuring continuity, transparency, and global expansion.
Educachess will also foster partnerships with public figures and foundations that share its commitment to education, culture, and solidarity—particularly those aimed at generating resources to support social and educational causes.
